During the 30th Annual Award Function held in India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, on 8th September, 2005, Mr. Gulu L. Mirchandani, Chairman & Managing Director of Mirc Electronics Limited, was honoured as ELCINA’s “Electronics Man of the Year” for the year 2004-05. Mr. Mirchandani is the 18th recipient of this prestigeous Award. This announcement was made by the ELCINA President, Mr. R.G. Deshpande, during the Award Distribution Ceremony, where senior government officials, Members of ELCINA and captains of the industry were also present.
Mr. Brijesh Kumar, Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications & IT, gave away the ELCINA Awards for 2004-05.

ELCINA Awards, instituted in 1976, are meant to recognise outstanding achievements of electronics/IT Hardware manufacturing companies in India. The award for “Excellence in Quality” was instituted from 1994 to spread quality culture, while the Award for “Environment Management” was started in 2002. ELCINA’s “Electronics Man of the Year” Award was instituted in 1987 to recognise outstanding individual contributions to the overall development of Electronics in India.
ELCINA is the apex body of Electronics/IT Hardware and Component manufacturers established in 1967 and has been serving the industry since then. To serve the greater cause of the entire Electronics/IT Hardware and Component sectors and reflect the changing business and technology scenario, the name of ELCINA was changed last year to: ELCINA ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION OF INDIA (from Electronic Component Industries Association).
