Background

Managing and leading are complimentary. A good manager has to be a good leader and vice-versa. In today’s competitive environment, performance standards are being continuously redefined and Managerial Skills are becoming particularly important in the case of managers, as they are responsible for the performance of others.

Effective management starts at the personal level, before moving on to the team level. Effective Managers are role models for subordinates. They play a vital role in improving the overall effectiveness of the organization.

A manager needs to understand the importance of team dynamics and the other member’s goals and values, needs and wants, comfort and stretch areas that can lead to managerial effectiveness through motivation, communication delegation and conflict resolution for overall team performance.

Brigadier (Rtd) H. S. Puri, an HR Consultant and logistician backed by 32 years of experience in the field of HR and Strategic Planning in Defence Establishments. He has a wide experience at macro level in evolving and implementing strategies in Management, adept at making optimal use of resources, possesses an eye for detail & effective Manager’s skills.
