Why Managerial Effectiveness?

A good manager has to be a good leader and vice-versa. In today’s competitive environment, performance standards are being continuously redefined and Effectiveness is becoming particularly important in the case of managers, as they are responsible for the performance of others. Effective management starts at the personal level, before moving on to the team level. Effective managers are role models for subordinates. They play a vital role in improving the overall effectiveness of the organization.

 

A manager needs to understand the importance of team dynamics and the other members their goals and values, needs and wants, comfort and stretch areas that can lead to managerial effectiveness through motivation, communication delegation and conflict resolution for overall team performance.

Rajit Pal Singh is a Masters in Human Resource and Organizational Development from Delhi School of Economics. He has been responsible for delivery of HR initiatives in organizations across many industries over the past few years.
