ELCINA – EFY Awards for Excellence in Electronics Hardware
Manufacturing & Services 2010-11

Beginning 1976, since last 35 years, ELCINA has been presenting a series of Awards for Excellence to recognize the achievements of Electronics/IT Hardware manufacturing companies in India & Support (Design, Testing, Technology) industries. The objective is to recognize and encourage the best players in this important sector and provide a benchmark for the rest of us.

We invite entries for the Awards from manufacturers of Electronic/IT Hardware Products & Support Services for outstanding achievements in :-

1. Research & Development
2. Exports
3. Quality
4. Environment Management
5. Business Excellence
6. Entrepreneurial Excellence

All electronics/IT hardware companies with manufacturing base in India are welcome to apply for the Awards. The winners of all ELCINA Awards for the past years can be seen in the ELCINA website - www.elcina.com. The Circular and the Scheme of Awards are also posted on the website.

For each entry, Nomination Form as well as details requested as per Scheme of Awards have to be furnished. If a company is applying for more than one award, separate applications have to be submitted. Entries for each Award should be submitted in quadruplicate (four copies) separately for scrutiny by Award Committee experts.

In respect of Awards for “Quality”, “Environment Management” and “Business Excellence”, there could be a requirement for visits to the short-listed companies as per details provided in the Scheme of Awards.

There will be only one prize for each category / sub-category However, the jury may consider a 2nd prize for deserving companies as a special recognition. A company, which has received the first prize last year in any one of the categories, would not be eligible to apply for the same category of Awards for this year.

It is mandatory for the applicant companies to furnish Nomination Form along with supporting documents. Entries received without the Nomination Form & Entry Fee will be liable for disqualification. Last date for receipt of entries – 30^th July, 2011.

Background

The ELCINA Awards were instituted in 1976 to recognise excellence in electronics hardware manufacturing, the first by any organisation in India for this industry. Initially, the categories of ELCINA Awards included Export, R&D, Import Substitution, Indigenisation of Capital Goods and Electronics Man of the Year. Over time with changing business focus, the Import Substitution and Indigenisation of Capital Goods Awards were dropped, while Quality, Environment Management, Business Excellence, and Entrepreneurial Excellence were added. Today, these awards are widely recognised as the highest accolade for excellence in electronics hardware and services.

EFY partners with ELCINA for ELCINA-EFY Awards



EFY Group has joined ELCINA for these Awards with effect from 2009-10. EFY is to play a significant role in promoting awareness about these awards, particularly amongst the new entrants to the field and the international community.

ELCINA amd Electronics for You (EFY Group) have entered into this long term partnership to promote the country's oldest and most valued awards for the electronics industry and these Awards have accordingly been rechristened as the ELCINA-EFY Awards for Excellence in Electronics Hardware Manufacturing and Services.

EFY Group, established over four decades ago, is a reputed organisation for technical publications, databases and training for skill development in electronics. They have taken this step to jointly promote the awards with ELCINA, enhance awareness and make this a global platform. EFY Group will play a significant role in promoting awareness about these awards particularly amongst the new entrants in the field, to enhance awareness and participation in the ELCINA-EFY Awards.

As before, ELCINA-EFY Awards for Excellence in Electronics Hardware Manufacturing and Services will be presented annually for outstanding achievements in the following Categories

• RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

The Awards for 2009-10 will be announced on 24th September 2010 in the Award Ceremony at India Habitat Center, New Delhi.
