The Samtel Group, in 1973, began by manufacturing 20" tubes for the Infant TV industry in India. As the organisation grew, it ran out of place-physically. This led to the birth in 1981, of Samtel India Ltd. at Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. Over the years, Samtel repeatedly expanded to keep pace with the rapidly growing demand for B&W TVs. |

Samtel Color is the largest manufacturer of Colour Picture Tubes in India. The Company was incorporated in 1986 and manufactures 14", 20", 21" (F&FST) Colour Picture Tubes (CPTs). Initially the company started with a technical collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric, Japan to manufacture 14" and 21" CPTs. Its manufacturing facility is located in Ghaziabad and has a production capacity of approx. 3 Mn tubes per annum. The Company's clients include well known names in the CTV industry like Samsung, LG, Thomson, Philips, BPL, Videocon, Onida and Panasonic among others. At 39%, Samtel Color has the highest market share amongst CPT manufacturers in India. Samtel is also the largest exporter of CPTs in the country. Samtel has also recieved safety approvals from USA, Canada, Germany & Britain for its products. The Electron Devices division of Samtel is a leading manufacturer of B/W & Color Electron Guns in the country. The product is a critical component of a picture tube and it equaly indicates the life of the picture tube. Set up in 1994, the division has its manufacturing units in Parwanoo & Ghaziabad. The Electron Devices Division is ISO 9001 certified, and has a manufacturing capacity of 7.5 Mn B/W & 3.5 Mn color picture guns with a market share of 76% for electron guns for B/W picture tubes. The division has recieved the prestigiuous ELCINA R&D Award for 1996-97, for indigenously designing & manufacturing heaters & cathodes for color picture tubes & monitors. The company has recently announced plans for a major new capacity of 2 Mn Color Display Tubes per annum, for computer monitors. The Samtel Group is also on of the leading manufacturer of Color Monitors in the country. The Group has recently expanded its Monitor capacity by setting up a new factory at Pondicherry, in addition to its existing facility at Faridabad. A division to manufacture Deflection Yokes for CPTs was setup and was designed & built with in-house technology. In 1998, Samtel invested Rs 10Cr to invrease the capacity of it's Deflection Yoke unit to 2.7 Mn per annum. The Group has also developed a capability to design sophisticated machinery on its own and this effort has been recognised by ELCINA awards for Indeginisation. |
