JCT Electronics has the distinction of spearheading the Thapar Group's entry into the field of electronics by introducing India's first colour picture tubes, in technical collaboration with Hitachi Limited, Japan to manufacture 2.0 million CPTs per annum. The plants are equipped with state-of-the-art technology with presently 2 lines each having over 50 robots are in control of the entire production process along a 4 km. long power free conveyor systems - the first of its kind in the country. With some of the most sophisticated equipment and over 60 engineers trained in Japan. The JCT-CPT plants are well set with its sights on the future. Further, 1 line for Mohali and 2 lines for Vadodara to manufacture 5.0 million CPTs p.a. also planned by the year 2000.

Having established its reputation in the domestic market JCT Electronics also pioneered the export of colour picture tubes and achieved the status of India's first manufacturer-exporter of CPTs. The recognition of its export performance came soon and the company has twice recieved awards for excellence in exports for being the largest manufacturer-exporter by the Electronic Component Industries Association (ELCINA).
